What is required to reserve my event date?
Currently, I require a deposit to reserve all wedding cakes and grooms cakes.  To reserve a cake for your wedding I require a $75.00 non-refundable deposit.  Your reservation is not added to the calendar until your deposit is received.  If you are ordering a large cake, 3 tiers or more, (or a large 3-D cake) I will request a deposit regardless of the type of event it is for.

Do I pay for my cake when I place my order or upon delivery?
For wedding or grooms cakes, I require a $75.00 non-refundable deposit to reserve your date and the balance is due within 15 days prior to your wedding date.  For other event cakes, 3 tiers or larger, there will be a  25% deposit due upon ordering (All wedding cakes and grooms cakes must be paid in full within 3 weeks of your wedding date).  All other cakes are paid for at time of delivery or pickup.

Can I request a cake consultation/tasting for my event?
Absolutely!  However, I do charge a $25.00 non-refundable fee, which will be applied towards your cake purchase if you choose to place an order.   You may choose two cake and buttercream flavors for your tasting.

Do you duplicate a cake from a picture?
Any cake can be duplicated.  However, every cake designer's piping technique is different, and to expect it to be identical is unrealistic.  I do not like to duplicate anyone's cake, as I believe every cake should be unique for that person.  I will use the basic design idea from the picture and add your own ideas, as well as mine that I will discuss with you, to make a similiar cake that you request, but it will not be an exact copy.

        Do you charge for delivery?
I offer free delivery and setup in the Springfield and Nixa area.  For deliveries outside the area, I charge $1.00 per mile (one way).

        Where is your shop located?
I work from a private kitchen and am by appointment only.   Please call or e-mail to schedule your wedding cake tasting/consultation.
See the wedding section for more information.

What do you charge for 3-D cakes?
As with any cake, it depends on the size of the cake.  How many servings do you want your cake to be, how complex the design is and how labor intense the design calls for.  My minimum price for any 3-D cake starts at $50.00.  (Duff Goldman from Ace of Cakes minimum cake price is $1000 regardless of the size.  He states this on his website).  So your getting a great deal!  :)  The bigger the cake, the more complex the design, the more it will cost you.

What's the best way to contact me?  Either phone or e-mail works.  I try to follow up with an answering call or e-mail within 24 hours or less.   I bake, decorate and deliver my own cakes, so if I don't answer, leave a message.  I promise, I'll call you back as soon as I possibly can.

Can I arrange for pickup if I live outside of Springfield?
Absolutely!!  Call to setup a pickup time at the kitchen or we can arrange a meeting place/time in Springfield and I'll bring the cake to you.  While it is not usually a problem for clients to transport smaller cakes, self-transporting is at your own risk.  Getting the cake safely to the destination falls to you.  Sweet Moments Custom Cakes is not responsible for damage that may occur to any client-transported cake once it has left my possession.

What is the best way to transport a cake if I choose to pickup my cake?
Any cake, regardless of size, needs to travel on a level, non-skid surface.  Bring a damp towel with you or a vinyl or silicone mat will work even better.
3-D cakes and large tiered cakes are not supplied with a box due to the size of the cake boards typically used as well as the height of the cake is usually taller than most cake boxes.
Boxes will not make your cake more food safe, nor does a box make your cake less fragile.  Boxes can do more damage to a cake than not having a box.  I am now off of my soap box.
          :)
